Remembering ‘Afterlife’ once again!

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Two years have been passed after ‘Afterlife’s cancellation, then, why I’m writing about it today? This question will be hitting your mind and if it’s, then, I must appreciate your brilliancy.

Actually, today I watched the second season finale ‘A Name Written in Water‘, once again; it refreshed my memory and made me remember how much frustrated I was after the announcement of series’ cancellation. Really, it was not a favorable decision made by the ITV network but no one cared about the pleas of fans and they didn’t even think to get ‘Afterlife‘ back. Okay, let me share my reviews about the series finale episode-

Robert is in coma and is admitted to the hospital. An unusual being (a strange nurse) is wandering through the corridors and the psychic notices her. Even some other workers have also noticed her presence. Who she is and why she’s there? Is her presence means an end for Robert? What’s gonna happen….. things are plotted in an efficient manner and the episode really served as a season finale.

It was a fantastic representation of Drama in a Sci-fi mode and story-line was also appreciable. Show was all about a woman named Alison Mundy who has the ability to deal with the souls of the dead. Lots of shows are being aired with the same stuff but still, it was my favorite drama and its cancellation was really, really unendurable for me and for everyone who liked the series.

Well, everything is over on ‘Afterlife’ and we should look for another show, if want to fulfill our lust for GHOSTS!!!

Well received

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Though the series was all success and definitely well received all over, still the producers decided to end the series after its second season. The series was not only appreciated by its viewers but also acclaimed great critical appreciation. It had all the elements of being a good suspense, drama, and thriller.

The critics were of the view the series was definitely promising as a mystery, despite of it using some of conventional techniques for scaring the audience. They were also of the view that one of the interesting factors of the series was Lesley Sharp, who had become in recent years television’s favorite Everywoman…though the show was scary but not gruesome. Despite of its simple plot it could hook its viewers through out.

Generally, believed that the series had taken the best of parts from The X-Files, Jonathan Creek and Most Haunted. Still the series rocked and made a good television series.

Fans of the series never wanted that the series should end. This was a disheartening decision for them and they still hope that the series would revive, with something more interesting. Whereas some were of the view that it was good decision to end the series the way they have done instead of lingering on the story line.

But all in all this was one series that was loved by all, in its short tenure.
